Bengaluru Water Crisis: Will Weather God Bring Relief To People With Rain?

Bengaluru has been hit by the worst water crisis in the last decade. Though summer is still weeks away, Garden City is already grappling with the impact of acute water scarcity.

Many areas across the city are experiencing disruptions in water supply, forcing Bengalurians to rely on tanker water to meet their daily needs.

Will It Rain In Bengaluru, This Week?

The water crisis stems from many factors, including deficits in rainfall, depletion of borewells, and receding groundwater levels. As the people of the city continue to struggle adequate water for their daily needs, people are just hoping that rains can give them some relief, as rains are crucial for replenishing water sources such as rivers, lakes, and groundwater reserves.

Will there be rain in near future?

As per the Met Centre Bengaluru, dry weather is likely to prevail over the state in the next two days. It has also not issued rain-related warnings for any places for the next 48 hours across the state.

"Maximum temperature likely to be above normal by upto 2°C at isolated places over the State. Minimum temperature likely to be above normal by 2-3°C at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka," the statement said.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast

The weather forecast indicates a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of strong surface winds intermittently. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach around 31 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are forecasted to be around 20 degrees Celsius.

This weather pattern suggests a moderately warm day with some cloud cover, which may provide occasional relief from direct sunlight. However, the presence of strong winds could influence the overall comfort level, potentially affecting outdoor activities.

"Partly cloudy sky. Surface winds likely to be strong at times. Maximum & Minimum temperatures very likely to be around 31 and 20 Degree Celsius respectively," the statement said.

It means people will not get any relief soon.

However, people might get some respite in March. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has foreseen a drop in temperatures as rainfall is anticipated to commence in March, according to an earlier report in The Times of India. Normally, the city should have received 7.1 mm of rainfall in February.

The report claims that the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts and other international meteorological agencies have hinted at the likelihood of good and above-average rainfall during the summer months.

A Prasad, a scientist at the IMD Bengaluru observatory, speaking to TOI, said, "If the prevailing El Nino conditions dissipate at the earliest, it could lead to heavy summer rainfall, exceeding the norm, particularly in March-April. The IMD is closely monitoring the situation and is expected to issue a comprehensive forecast by the end of February."
