Bengaluru Water Crisis Still Persists Despite Rain: Residents Pay High Prices For Water Tankers

Bengaluru residents are grappling with a water crisis that's becoming increasingly alarming. Despite heavy rains in some parts of the city, many areas are still struggling with water scarcity, making it difficult for residents to access drinking water and cooking.

In India's Silicon City, people living in apartments are heavily reliant on water tankers as the water level in borewells has plummeted. As a result, the price of water tanker has skyrocketed, making it unaffordable for many.

Bengaluru Water Crisis Persist Despite Rain Residents Pay High Prices For Water Tankers

Areas like Whitefield, Bengaluru East and Kanakapura Road, Bengaluru South are particularly affected by the water scarcity. Residents in these areas are complaining that the price of tanker water is higher than the rate fixed by the Karnataka government.

For instance, people in these areas are paying a whopping Rs 1800 for a 1200-liter tanker, which is more than double the price set by the state government. With apartment complexes requiring around 50 tankers daily, there are concerns about what will happen during the summer months when demand is expected to be even higher.

The situation is worrisome, especially since it's not just a summer phenomenon. The rainy season has already brought its own set of challenges, and with water levels in borewells dropping rapidly, it's unclear what the future holds.
