Bengaluru-Vijayawada Expressway Project (NH-544G) Sets Two Guinness Records by NHAI

The National Highways Authority of India has created two Guinness World Records in Andhra Pradesh during work on the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Expressway, which Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described as a proud milestone for both India and the state.

Sharing the news on X, N. Chandrababu Naidu posted, "Today, NHAI, through M/s Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd., achieved two Guinness World Records in Andhra Pradesh on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor (NH-544G) by laying 28.95 lane-kilometres and 10,675 MT of Bituminous Concrete continuously within 24 hours," CM Naidu posted on 'X'. "This extraordinary achievement reflects the vision of the Government of India, the sustained thrust on world-class highway infrastructure under Nitin Gadkari Ji, and the exceptional commitment of engineers, workers, and field teams, and was executed in full compliance with stringent NHAI quality standards," the Chief Minister wrote.

The records were set on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor, designated NH-544G, where contractor M/s Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd. carried out the continuous bituminous concrete laying. The feat, completed within a 24-hour window, followed National Highways Authority of India norms on quality checks and reflected the current focus on large national highway projects.

N. Chandrababu Naidu also highlighted that further attempts are planned, stating, "Best wishes to the team as two more Guinness World Records are being attempted by 11 Jan 2026 on Packages 2 & 3 of this landmark corridor in Andhra Pradesh. India builds. Andhra Pradesh delivers," he added. The Chief Minister said the performance aligns with the highway development drive led by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Expressway Guinness World Records and Andhra Pradesh connectivity

The Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Expressway is a six-lane, access-controlled greenfield national highway project that aims to sharply cut journey times. Travel between Andhra Pradesh capital Amaravati and Bengaluru is planned to come down from the present 11-12 hours to roughly six hours, offering faster movement for both regular passengers and commercial traffic.

Designed as a mix of new alignment and upgrades, the corridor passes through Guntur, Prakasam, Kurnool and Kadapa districts in Andhra Pradesh before entering Karnataka. Under Bharatmala phase-II, planners are routing the expressway away from busy town centres and existing crowded highways so that vehicles can move with fewer stoppages and delays along the route.

The length of the expressway, including both new and upgraded parts, is assessed between 518 km and 624 km. The greenfield alignment covers around 342 km from Kodikonda to Addanki or Muppavaram, while brownfield improvements are planned on the Bengaluru-Kodikonda stretch of NH-44 and the Addanki-Vijayawada section of NH-16.

Construction on the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Expressway has recently gathered pace, and officials expect the project to give a major lift to connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Bengaluru. The Guinness World Records announced by N. Chandrababu Naidu are being seen as a sign of that momentum, combining fast execution with adherence to National Highways Authority of India standards.
