Bengaluru TV Actress Faces Months of Online Harassment, Accused Arrested

A Telugu and Kannada television actress from Bengaluru has filed a complaint after being subjected to months of online sexual harassment through Facebook Messenger. The accused, who had been sending her obscene photos and videos for nearly three months, was arrested by the Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police and later remanded in judicial custody.

According to police reports, the harassment began when the accused identified as Naveen K Mon, a resident of Whitefield and employee of a consultancy services firm sent the actress a friend request on Facebook after creating ID 'NAVEENZ'. When she did not accept it, he began sending her unsolicited messages through Messenger, starting with declarations of affection that soon turned lewd. Despite repeated warnings to stop, the man continued sending explicit messages, prompting the actress to block his account.

Enraged by being blocked, the accused created multiple fake profiles and intensified the harassment. He allegedly sent nude images, pornographic videos and threatening messages, claiming he would circulate her photographs online. The disturbing messages left the actress frightened and distressed.

On 1 November, the actress, who has acted in several Kannada and Telugu serials, confronted the accused in person near Nandan Palace in Nagarabhavi around 11.30 a.m, warning him to cease his behaviour. However, he ignored her warnings and continued his actions. She then approached the police and provided screenshots and message records as evidence.

Police swiftly tracked down and arrested the man. He was produced before a court and denied bail. A case has been registered under the Information Technology Act and relevant sections pertaining to sexual harassment of women.
