According to B-SMILE Director (Technical) B S Prahallad, the corridors were finalised after a two-year study that analysed traffic movement, including origin and destination patterns.

He said the aim is to provide an end-to-end solution to improve commuting across the city.

Baiyappanahalli Project Gets Clearance

The Cabinet has also cleared a long-pending traffic project at the IOC Junction in Baiyappanahalli. A revised estimate of ₹436.44 crore has been approved for an elevated rotary flyover along with a two-lane rail overbridge.

This project is expected to improve connectivity between central Bengaluru and the northern parts of the city. An additional two-lane rail overbridge at the Baiyappanahalli level crossing has also been included.

Apart from traffic projects, the Cabinet approved an ₹85-crore biogas purification and compression project. It will process sludge from five sewage treatment plants under a public-private partnership model.

The government has also issued a revised notification to revive the Intermediate Ring Road (IRR) 2027 project, with changes to the earlier alignment.

Property Tax Exemption Approved

The Cabinet also approved property tax exemptions for government institutions such as Raj Bhavan, Kumara Krupa Guest House, Kanteerava Stadium and Koramangala Stadium.

The new flyover network will connect several key areas across Bengaluru, including Yeshwantpur, Old Madras Road, Electronic City, Sirsi Circle, Nayandahalli and Nagawara.

With these approvals, the government is aiming to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and strengthen urban mobility in the city.
