Bengaluru Traffic Police Rake In ₹30.57 Lakh From Delivery Riders: Report
In a significant enforcement drive, Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) took action against e-commerce delivery riders on Monday, registering nearly 6,000 cases for traffic violations. The operation was launched to address the growing number of offenses committed by delivery personnel, who are often pressured to meet tight deadlines.
A total of 5,979 violations were recorded during the crackdown, resulting in fines totaling ₹30.57 lakh, according to Deccan Herald.

The violations spanned over 12 categories, including no parking, riding without helmets, and unauthorized access to restricted areas.
Key Violations:
- The most common violation was pillion riders not wearing helmets, with 2,304 cases registered.
- Other significant offenses included 1,260 instances of vehicles parked in no-parking zones, 671 no-entry violations, and 523 riders without helmets.
- Additionally, 281 riders were fined for jumping traffic signals.
E-bikes, which are commonly used for short delivery trips, were also under scrutiny. While they are exempt from helmet and documentation requirements under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, fines were issued for offenses such as riding on the footpath, parking on the footpath, riding against one-way traffic, and jumping signals.
In a related effort, Bengaluru Traffic Police recently urged residents to consider public transport as an alternative to reduce traffic congestion, cut emissions, and contribute to a more sustainable, greener city for future generations.
