Bengaluru traffic alert: Bengaluru commuters are facing slow-moving traffic and partial road closures across several key routes, as ongoing metro construction, BBMP, and BWSSB work continue to disrupt regular traffic flow.

According to multiple traffic advisories issued by the HAL Airport Traffic Bengaluru traffic police, the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and several arterial roads are currently affected. The Bengaluru Traffic Police have requested the public to co-operate and plan their travel accordingly to avoid peak-hour chaos.

Major Traffic Disruption Points: What's Causing the Snarls?

  • Outer Ring Road, Salem Railway Bridge: Ongoing metro construction has significantly slowed traffic movement from Mahadevapura towards Marathahalli and vice versa. Delays are expected during peak hours.
  • ORR near Marathahalli Police Station: Due to metro-related pillar work, traffic from Kadubeesanahalli towards Karthiknagar is moving at a snail's pace.
  • Sakra Hospital Road: The BWSSB and BBMP have taken up civic works in the area, leading to restricted vehicle movement from Bellandur Kodi towards Sakra Hospital. Commuters are advised to avoid this route if possible.
  • Doddanekundi Village (Kodandarama Temple Road): Civil work in progress here is causing significant congestion. Alternative routes are recommended.
  • Panathur Railway Bridge S Cross: Road widening work by the BBMP is affecting traffic flow. Delays are likely throughout the day.
  • Kalamandir Junction: Pillar construction activity near Kalamandir has impacted movement towards Karthiknagar and Marathahalli.

With back-to-back infrastructure development projects ramping up, Bengaluru residents are urged to stay updated with real-time traffic alerts and consider alternate routes or public transport options wherever feasible.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru registered 7.22 lakh new vehicles in 2024-25, including 4.68 lakh two-wheelers and 1.45 lakh cars, adding to the city's growing traffic woes. Over half of Karnataka's car registrations came from Bengaluru alone.

Bengaluru's total vehicle registrations have climbed to 1.23 crore in 2024-25, marking a 6.5% rise from 1.16 crore in 2023-24. The city had 1.09 crore vehicles in 2022-23, 1.04 crore in 2021-22, and crossed the one-crore mark in 2020-21.
