Bengaluru Traffic Alert: Begur Roads Closed, Heavy Congestion in Hebbal, Slow Traffic on Marathahalli

Devotees in large numbers are expected to gather today for Sri Nagalingeshwara Temple Brahmarathostava at Begur's Nagalingeshwara Temple, prompting the Bengaluru Traffic Police to issue traffic restrictions and diversions in and around the temple area.

The Brahmarathostava, the main attraction of the festival, is scheduled to begin at 11:55 am, followed by a chariot procession later in the evening. Authorities estimate a turnout of 15,000 to 25,000 people for the event.

Bengaluru Traffic Alert

Where traffic is restricted:
Traffic movement has been temporarily barred in the following stretches:

  • From PK Kalyana Mantapa Junction to Ekana Hospital Junction on Begur Road
  • From Falcon Market Junction to the temple on Manipal County Road
  • From DLF Junction to Begur Lake Junction

These restrictions are expected to remain in place through the day to ensure smooth movement of devotees and prevent congestion.

What are the alternative routes?

To ease movement for other commuters, traffic police have suggested the following alternate routes:

From Bommanahalli-Hongasandra to Begur Koppa Road:

Vehicles can take a right at PK Kalyana Mantapa Junction, continue on Devarchikkanahalli Road, turn left near DEO Heights, and proceed to DLF Junction, then onto Begur Koppa Road.

From Hosur Main Road and Manipal County Road:

Commuters can turn left near Falcon Market, go through AECS C-Block, and continue to Begur Koppa Road or Bannerghatta Main Road.

Those approaching Begur Circle via DLF:

Can take a left turn at DLF Junction, go through Nyanappana Halli Road, and reach Hongasandra and Bommanahalli via Devarchikkanahalli Road.

Traffic slows down in other parts of Bengaluru

Separate from the festival-related diversions, traffic congestion was reported in several parts of the city earlier this morning.

Heavy traffic from Hebbal towards the city led to long delays.

Marathahalli to Kalamandira stretch is moving slowly due to ongoing BMRCL metro work.

Garve Bavi Palya to MPS is also witnessing slow traffic due to an increased number of vehicles.

Metro construction between Nagawara Junction and Hennur Junction is adding to the congestion in that corridor.

Meanwhile, a fallen tree on Aliaskar Road has led to a temporary block on Cunningham Road. Commuters have been asked to use alternate roads until the tree is cleared.

The traffic police have requested residents and commuters to cooperate and plan their journeys in advance.
