Bengaluru To Prayagraj: Special Kumbh Mela Train To Run From January 8
A special one-way Kumbh Mela Express will operate between Bengaluru and Prayagraj on January 8 to accommodate the increased passenger demand, South Western Railway (SWR) announced on Monday. Train No. 06577 Kumbh Mela Express Special will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 23:50 on January 8 and is expected to reach Prayagraj at 17:15 on January 10, according to the SWR press release.
The train will make stops at several key stations along its route, including Whitefield, Bangarapet, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Perambur, Gudur, Vijayawada, Warangal, Balharshah, Chandrapur, Sevagram, Nagpur, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Satna, and Manikpur.

This special train will feature 20 coaches, consisting of 14 general second-class coaches, four sleeper coaches, and two luggage-cum-brake vans to accommodate both passengers and freight.
The new service aims to enhance connectivity between major cities and towns, providing a comfortable travel experience for passengers traveling to the Kumbh Mela.
In addition, the Ministry of Railways has announced plans to operate 992 special trains from January 12 to February 28, 2025, in preparation for the Maha Kumbh Mela. This initiative is designed to manage the large influx of pilgrims expected to visit the event. The Ministry will also introduce a new circular train route connecting Prayagraj, Ayodhya, and Varanasi to improve access between key pilgrimage cities. Additionally, 174 longer rakes will be deployed to manage the increased passenger load efficiently.
