Bengaluru To Get India's Highest Viewing Tower, Netizens React To The 250m Engineering Marvel
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, has put forward a visionary Skydeck project for Bengaluru following his earlier proposal of a tunnel network aimed at alleviating the city's traffic woes. The Skydeck project is expected to be an architectural marvel, potentially becoming the tallest observation tower in India.
Shivakumar, who also serves as the Minister for Bengaluru Development, revealed that this project was conceived through a collaboration between an Austrian company, COOP HIMMELB(L)AU, and the World Design Organisation (WDO). He has further instructed officials to conduct a comprehensive financial assessment of the project and pinpoint a suitable 8-10 acre parcel of land for its construction. The Skydeck project draws inspiration from the intricate structure of a banyan tree and is expected to soar to a height of 250 meters.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Shivakumar shared a conceptual video of the project, wrote, "Reviewed the proposed Bengaluru Skydeck project plan, conceptualised by COOP HIMMELB(L)AU of Austria in association with the World Design Organisation (WDO), and which if implemented will be the highest viewing tower in the country."

The 2.11-minute video clip shows the towering structure in both daylight and nighttime settings, capturing the imagination of viewers. However, the location to build this proposed mega project is not yet decided.
DK Shivakumar's earlier proposition of an underground tunnel network project garnered mixed responses, with experts suggesting that the development of public transportation and mass transit systems in Bengaluru would offer a more sustainable solution to combat traffic congestion. The tunnel project, if realised, would necessitate an initial investment of INR 22,000 crore for the first phase alone, and it takes inspiration from Singapore's extensive tunnel system spanning 99 kilometers.
Meanwhile, social media users expressed their thoughts and perspectives on the forthcoming Skydeck in Bengaluru through X. While several users celebrated the prospect of a new city landmark, there was a prevailing sentiment that the focus should be directed towards enhancing the city's roadways and overall infrastructure. The primary concerns included addressing potholes and devising strategies to alleviate the persistent issue of traffic congestion that plagues the city.
Sir good to see this !! But our burning problem is traffic. Please ensure suburban corridors are implemented immediately!! As it will ease 30 % traffic. Rest all projects can wait. As there is funds shortage for other development works. We need cleaner air / water and transports

What would be the cost of this?

Is this to see potholes from there or see great view of garbage?
Nice. But how shall i reach there? Cannot take car out of home because everywhere its going to be traffic jam. Even if i muster the courage, where shall i drive ? Roads are only in rest of Karnataka. In Bengaluru no road infrastructure is there.

Bengaluru city needs world class tourism spots like this. I appreciate our DCM is shown interest towards such an idea. I suggest freedom park is an ideal place for this project.
