Bengaluru Shocker: ₹1 Crore Worth of Human Hair Stolen, Police Investigate

In a shocking incident, a gang of thieves stole human hair worth ₹90 lakh to ₹1 crore from a godown in Bengaluru.

The stolen hair, intended for export to China, Burma, and Hong Kong, was taken by a six-member gang that arrived in a vehicle on February 28. CCTV footage captured their movements, and Bengaluru police have launched a manhunt for the culprits.

The theft occurred just days after Chinese buyers inspected the stock for wig manufacturing. Godown owner Venkataramana has lodged a complaint, and authorities are analyzing surveillance footage to track down the suspects.

Investigators believe the gang had inside information about the stock and its value. Police are probing whether it was an internal job or a planned operation by an organized syndicate involved in the human hair trade.

Meanwhile, in a separate case last month, Bengaluru police foiled an ATM theft inspired by the 2023 heist thriller Lucky Baskhar. A six-member gang, all employees of Secure Value Private Limited, a cash management firm, was caught siphoning off ATM funds.

The Mahalakshmi Layout Police arrested the accused and recovered ₹52 lakh in stolen cash. The suspects, who held key roles as cash officers and ATM maintenance staff, pocketed the money instead of depositing it into ATMs, covering up discrepancies by shifting funds from other machines.
