Bengaluru Power Cut on December 23: These 80 Affected Areas to Face 6-Hours Outage Across City

More than 80 neighbourhoods across south, west and north Bengaluru will face a power cut on Tuesday, December 23, as the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) carries out emergency repair and maintenance work on major transmission lines and substations.

According to officials, electricity supply will be suspended at different times between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, affecting residential areas, offices, technology parks and industrial units during working hours.

KPTCL said the shutdown is necessary to fix urgent technical faults and strengthen the power network to prevent larger breakdowns during periods of high demand. Power supply is expected to be restored after the work is completed, although slight delays may occur in some locations.

South and West Bengaluru to See Major Outage

Large parts of south and west Bengaluru will remain without power from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on December 23. Areas affected include Konanakunte, Talaghattapura, Doddakallasandra, Srinidhi Layout, Avalahalli, Raghuvanahalli, Gubbalala, Kuvempunagar, V V Nagar and Layout, Balaji Layout, Royal Farm and Arehalli.

Other localities under this shutdown include Ittamadu, AGS Layout, Chikkalasandra, T G Layout, Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, ISRO Layout, Kumaraswamy Layout, Vitthal Nagar, Vikram Nagar, Yelachenahalli, Kadirenahalli and areas around Abbaiah Naidu Studio. These neighbourhoods include dense residential pockets, schools, apartments and local businesses, which are likely to experience a complete power interruption during the six-hour window.

Power Cut in Hebbal, Kempapura and Surrounding Areas

Parts of north Bengaluru will also be affected, mainly between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. Areas listed under this outage include Manyata Residency, BTS Layout, Godrej Apartments, Hebbal, Kempapura, Vinayaka Layout, Chiranjeevi Layout, Venkatagowda Layout, Rachenahalli, Srirampura, Chamundeshwari Layout, Royal Enclave, Maistry Palya, Thanisandra, SNN Clermont, Karle Town Centre, Mantri Lithos, Coffee Board Layout, Mariannapalya and Brigade Caladium.

Several large office campuses and technology hubs in this belt will also be impacted. These include Fidelity, Philips, IBM blocks D1 to D4, Nokia L5, Siemens L6, MFAR, JNC and Madhuvana M2 Block. Offices without adequate generator backup may face disruptions to lifts, air-conditioning and computer systems.

EPIP Layout and Tech Parks to Face Longest Outage

The longest power cut is scheduled in EPIP Layout and nearby technology and industrial areas, where supply will be suspended from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Affected locations include L and T, Ragihalli Siddapura Gate, EPIP Layout, TCS Software Campus, SJR Tech Park, VSNL feeder areas, Reliance Big Bazaar area, Oriental Hotel, Airtel facilities, Bushra Tech Park, Gopalan Enterprises, Sada Tech Park, Qualcomm, GE BE Company, Bagmane Neon Block and the wider EPIP Industrial Area.

Companies in these zones are expected to rely heavily on backup power systems during the seven-hour shutdown. Industrial units and offices without sufficient backup may need to adjust work schedules to avoid disruption.

Meanwhile, Parts of Bengaluru are set to face daytime power cuts from December 25 to 28, 2025. According to BESCOM, supply will be switched off daily between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Several neighbourhoods in Attibele and Anekal zones will see interruptions during this four-day maintenance schedule.

Advisory for Residents and Businesses

Residents have been advised to charge mobile phones, laptops and power banks in advance, store drinking water, and plan for the temporary shutdown of lifts and water pumps. Households using medical equipment that depends on electricity are urged to make alternative arrangements.

Officials have requested the public not to overcrowd customer care lines during the outage, as maintenance teams will already be deployed on the ground. Power supply is expected to resume in phases once each feeder and substation is cleared for safe operation.

With large parts of Bengaluru affected on the same day, authorities have stressed the need for early preparation to manage the temporary inconvenience caused by the scheduled power cut.
