Bengaluru Police Launch Special Teams To Probe 29-Year-Old Woman's Grisly Murder

Latest development has emerged in the brutal murder of a woman in Bengaluru that occurred on Saturday.

According to India TV, the Bengaluru police have formed eight special teams to investigate the crime.

Officers are currently reviewing extensive CCTV footage from the area where the murder took place.

The search for the suspect is still ongoing, and no arrests have been made yet. The case, involving the killing of a 29-year-old woman from Jharkhand named Mahalakshmi, has shocked the local community.

Mahalakshmi was dismembered into approximately 30 pieces, which were found stored in a refrigerator in a flat in the Vyalikaval area of Bengaluru.

Senior police officials arrived at the scene and blocked off the road leading to the one-bedroom apartment where her remains were discovered.

Mahalakshmi had been living alone in the flat for about five months after separating from her husband, Hemant Das, who resided with their daughter. A canine unit and forensic experts were called in to aid the investigation, according to the report.

Mahalakshmi worked at a mall, and authorities are interviewing her colleagues for potential leads. Police have also analysed her call records as part of their probe.

In another crucial detail, India Today reported that the victim's mother learned of the situation through the landlord, who mentioned a foul smell coming from the apartment.

She said, "Her house owner had called us at night to inform us about a foul smell coming from the house. My daughter's body was cut and stuffed inside the fridge."

Upon receiving the news, Mahalakshmi's husband also arrived at the scene, as per a report by PTI. Her body has been sent for an autopsy, with the results still pending.
