Bengaluru Police Arrest Seven Accused In Swimming Pool Electrocution Case

The Bengaluru police arrested seven people linked to the death of a seven-year-old girl who was electrocuted after falling into a swimming pool at a Whitefield apartment. This incident happened in December and highlighted safety issues in many tall buildings in the city.

After investigating for almost three months, the Bengaluru police on Sunday held seven accused.

According to the reports, the Bengaluru police arrested the president, vice president of Lakeside Habitat apartment, and five electricians. The police have lodged the case under IPC section 149 for members of unlawful assembly guilty of offense and 304, which states, culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The seven-year deceased was identified as Manya Damerla, a resident of the Prestige Lakeside Habitat apartment situated on Varthur-Gunjur road.

As per the Police report, Manya was playing near the swimming pool when she accidentally fell in the swimming pool and drowned. Her father, Rajesh Kumar Damerla, immediately took her to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her brought dead.

After the saddening incident, the Prestige group, in its official statement, said, "We deeply regret the tragic incident at Prestige Lakeside Habitat. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families affected by this devastating loss."

"Safety is our utmost priority, and we are actively cooperating with the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to prevent such incidents. We are committed to implementing any necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future," the Prestige Lakeside Habitat group said.
