Bengaluru Outer Ring Road Upgrade: Silk Board to Baiyappanahalli 22 km Stretch To Be Rebuild
Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd (B.Smile) is leading a major upgrade of a 22-kilometre stretch of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) from Silk Board Junction to Baiyappanahalli. The goal is to bring this corridor up to international standards, enhancing infrastructure and easing congestion.
Funding & Execution:
Rs 400 crore allocated in the BBMP's recent budget for a section of the project.
B.Smile is in charge of executing the entire project, including hiring a private consultancy for technical and design work.

Urban Mobility Features (in planning):
- Dedicated bus lanes
- One-way traffic systems
- Pedestrian skywalks
- Non-motorised transport infrastructure (e.g., cycling, walking paths)
- Improved traffic signage and management
- Upgraded bus stops
- Grade separators for better traffic flow
Purpose & Impact:
- Reduce congestion on one of Bengaluru's busiest and most critical economic corridors.
- Improve commuter experience and public transport integration.
- Set a model for future smart infrastructure projects in the city.
Timeline:
Detailed blueprint expected in 2-3 months after consultancy is appointed.
