Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway: Police On High Alert After Series Of Robberies
In response to a surge in robbery incidents, police has heightened patrolling efforts along the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway. Over the span of two months, three separate car robberies incident were reported within the 55-kilometer stretch of this highway situated in the Mandya district, prompting increased vigilance from the authorities. The incidents were duly reported to the Mandya police station.
On July 1, Muttappa, who was en route to Bengaluru for medical treatment, fell victim to a robbery near Maddur. While he had halted his car for a break during the journey, armed robbers threatened him and made away with jewelry and cash amounting to Rs 3.5 lakh. He promptly lodged a complaint at the Maddur police station.

Subsequently, on August 13, two robbery cases unfolded. Rakshith Reddy and Manasa Reddy, a couple from Kolar, were robbed near Shettyhalli in the Mandya district when they stopped to change a punctured tire. Motorcycle-borne assailants seized jewels worth Rs 1.70 lakh from them. A case was registered at the Srirangapatna rural police station.
Another incident involved a family from Udupi, visiting Bengaluru for a trip, who were robbed near Srirangapatna. Two individuals posing as police personnel halted their car for inspection, then proceeded to threaten and abscond with jewelry and cash totaling Rs 1.50 lakh. A case was filed at the Srirangapatna police station concerning this incident.
The Mandya police have increased patrolling activities on the expressway as a direct response to the uptick in robbery occurrences.
