Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway: 24 Skywalks To Come Up To Curb Accidents

The Karnataka government has decided to construct skywalks on 24 sides of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to prevent accidents. The decision was taken after a number of accidents were reported on the expressway in recent months.

The skywalks will be constructed at a cost of Rs 100 crore. They will be built at junctions where there is a high risk of accidents, such as those near hospitals, schools, and bus stops. The skywalks will have staircases and ramps for pedestrians to use. They will also have shelters to protect pedestrians from the sun and rain.

The construction of the skywalks is expected to be completed within a year. The government hopes that the skywalks will help to reduce the number of accidents on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway by providing a safe crossing for pedestrians.

The skywalks are part of a larger plan by the government to improve road safety in the state. Other measures being taken include installing speed breakers, widening roads, and creating awareness about road safety.

The government is also working on a plan to introduce breathalyzer tests for drivers at toll gates. This is aimed at reducing the number of drunk driving accidents.

The government's efforts to improve road safety are welcome. However, it is important to remember that road safety is a shared responsibility. Drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists all have a role to play in making the roads safer.
