Bengaluru-Mumbai in 18 Hours! New Superfast Train via Hubballi With 5 Major Station Stops

The Indian Railways is launching a new Superfast train from Bengaluru to Mumbai, significantly cutting travel time to approximately 18 hours. This service enhances rail connectivity and meets public demand for faster travel options.

The Indian Railways is set to introduce a new Superfast train connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai, significantly reducing travel time. This service will take a central Karnataka route via Hubballi-Dharwad, starting from Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal in Bengaluru and ending at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai. The journey is expected to take approximately 18 hours, offering a faster alternative to the existing Udyan Express.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi announced this development on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for addressing a long-standing public demand. Joshi highlighted that the new train would enhance rail connectivity and boost trade and commerce by benefiting numerous passengers. The introduction of this service comes nearly three decades after the launch of the Udyan Express.

Route and Stoppages

This upcoming train will traverse through central Karnataka, making stops at several key stations along its route. These include Tumakuru, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Belagavi before reaching Mumbai. The detailed schedule, frequency, and start date for this service are anticipated to be announced soon by the Railways.

The Udyan Express remains the only direct train currently linking Bengaluru and Mumbai. It operates via the Bengaluru–Guntakal–Solapur route, covering a distance of 1,153 km in about 23 hours and 35 minutes. This daily service makes 31 stops between the two cities.

Travel Time Reduction

The new Superfast train aims to cut down travel time by nearly five hours compared to the Udyan Express. While the latter takes over 23 hours to cover 1,136 km, the new service promises a more efficient journey lasting around 18 hours. This improvement is expected to attract more passengers seeking quicker travel options between these major cities.

The current Udyan Express has an extensive list of stops including Bengaluru Cant, Yelahanka, Dodballapur, Gauribidanur, Hindupur, Penukonda, Sai P Nilayam, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Guntakal, Adoni, Manthralayam Road, Raichur, Krishna, Saidapur, Yadgir, Nalwar, Wadi, Shahabad, Kalaburagi, Ganagapur Road, Dudhani, Akalkot Road, Solapur, Kurduvadi, Daund, Uruli Pune Lonavala Kalyan Dadar.

For years there has been a strong demand for another direct Superfast train between Bengaluru and Mumbai apart from the existing Udyan Express. The new service is expected to meet this demand while providing enhanced convenience for travelers.
