Thousands of Bengalurains gathered at MG Road, Brigade Road, Koramangala and Kempegowda International Airport on Sunday to welcome the New Year 2024.

As is the tradition every year, a large number of crowd assembled around MG Road, Brigade Road, Residency Road, St. Mark's Road, Church Street, Koramangala, and various other locations. All flyovers in the city, except for the International Airport Flyover, were shut down from 11:00 pm on Sunday until 6 am on Monday to ease the festivities.

The movement of various vehicles was constrained in different areas: MG Road from Anil Kumble Circle to Mayo Hall Junction, Brigade Road from Cauvery Emporium Junction to Opera Junction, Church Street from Brigade Road Junction to Museum Road Junction, Rest House Road from Museum Road Junction to MG Road Junction (Shankar Nag Theatre), Residency Road from Ashirwadham Junction to Mayo Hall Junction, Museum Road from MG Road Junction to Ashirwadham Junction, Ashirwadham Junction to Mayo Hall Junction, and Museum Road from MG Road Junction to SBI Circle.
On the eve of New Year, the BMRCL extended the metro train services on both Purple and Green Lines to accommodate the festive crowds. This helped the Namma Metro to enjoy a good ridership on Sunday.
As per the reports, 6.26 lakh people commuted on the Bengaluru Metro between December 31 and January 1 (1.30 am). It generated Rs 1.64 crore revenue for the BMRCL.
It has to be noted that the average daily ridership for Bengaluru Metro is around 7.5 lakh.
