Bengaluru: Married Nursing Student And Partner Set Themselves Ablaze
In a tragic incident, a second-year nursing student and her partner set themselves on fire in a rented flat in the Doddagubbi area on Sunday. Kothanur Police have initiated an investigation and filed a case of unnatural death. The deceased individuals have been identified as 20-year-old Soumini Das, hailing from West Bengal, and 29-year-old Abhil Abraham, a resident of Kerala. Soumini was pursuing her second-year nursing course at a private college in Bengaluru, while Abhil operated a nursing service agency in the city.
According to reports, Soumini and Abhil had met a few months ago, and fell in love with each other. Abhil would frequently visit Soumini's residence. It's worth noting that Soumini was already married to a man in West Bengal. She recently returned to her hometown and informed her husband about her extramarital relationship, expressing her desire to end the marriage. This led to heightened tensions and frequent conflicts with her husband.

While the exact trigger for their extreme step remains unclear, the police suspect that opposition from Soumini's husband may have driven them to take their own lives. When neighbors heard screams from their flat, they rushed to the scene, forcibly entering the apartment. Tragically, Soumini had already succumbed to her injuries, and Abhil was rushed to Victoria Hospital, where he also tragically passed away.
Kothanur Police have filed an FIR related to unnatural death and are actively investigating the case. Despite their efforts, no suicide note has been found, prompting the authorities to examine the mobile phones in search of clues to determine the precise cause of this unfortunate tragedy.
