Joint Commissioner of Police (East), Ramesh Banoth, said that sedition charges have been filed against Nawaz. He also revealed that Nawaz had previously been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Tumakuru.

"Two days ago, a video was posted on Instagram from an account named Nawaz. It contained derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Modi. We traced the account, arrested the suspect, and upon background verification, found a prior NDPS case registered against him," Banoth told ANI.

In the video that went viral, Nawaz can be heard saying, "Why hasn't Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence been bombed yet? He created this war-like situation when people were living peacefully. He should bomb his own residence first."

Nawaz, a mechanical engineer by profession, is a resident of Bandepalya near Electronic City in Bengaluru. His earlier NDPS case was reported in Tumkur district.

Police have stated that they are treating the case with utmost seriousness, as such comments can incite unrest and pose a threat to national security. The investigation is currently underway.
