Bengaluru Malls on High Alert Post-Pahalgam Attack; Knives And Sharp Objects Banned At Entry
In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor conducted by the Indian Army, both the central and state governments have issued directives to remain on high alert across the country. As part of the enhanced security measures, the Bengaluru Police Department has instructed authorities to step up vigilance at locations where large crowds gather, particularly in shopping malls.
A total of 41 malls across Bengaluru, also known as Silicon City, have been placed under heightened surveillance. Security personnel are now thoroughly checking all visitors before allowing entry. Strict instructions have been issued prohibiting the entry of any items that could potentially be used in criminal activities, including knives and sharp objects.

In addition to physical checks, malls have been directed to install more CCTV cameras both inside and outside their premises. Authorities have also been told to hire additional security personnel to strengthen safety measures. In case of any suspicious activity or threat, immediate communication with the police control room has been mandated.
Mall owners and management teams have been advised by the police to implement comprehensive precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the public. This includes maintaining constant vigilance and cooperating with law enforcement agencies.
The public has largely welcomed the move, stating that increased security in public spaces-especially in areas with large footfalls-is a much-needed step in the current scenario.
This proactive approach by the authorities to place malls in Bengaluru on high alert has been viewed positively, as it helps instill a sense of safety and reassurance among residents, while also acting as a deterrent against any potential threats.
