Bengaluru IPL Ticket Scam: Accused Sold Tickets Worth ₹17.5 Lakh in Black

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru police has arrested a man for allegedly selling IPL match tickets in the black market at inflated prices.

According to police, the accused had purchased a total of 181 tickets of various denominations worth ₹17.52 lakh through TicketGenie and later sold them illegally to the public at higher rates.

Probe Reveals Ticket Black Marketing

The case came to light after CCB received inputs that the suspect had bought tickets for the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants on April 15 with the intention of reselling them for profit.

During the investigation, police found that the accused was involved in selling tickets at inflated prices outside official channels.

Links to Stadium Staff Under Scanner

As part of the probe, officials questioned a person working at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, who was also found to be selling match tickets to the public at higher prices.

Police said that 50 tickets for the RCB vs LSG match were purchased through TicketGenie in the name of Swastik Heavy Engineering and Industrial Automation Consultant Company, while another 50 tickets were purchased in the name of Dharani Computers Company.

These tickets were then allegedly sold in the black market through the accused.

Earlier Match Also Under Lens

The investigation further revealed that during the RCB vs Chennai Super Kings match on March 28, another 81 tickets worth ₹6.6 lakh were purchased in the name of Swastik Heavy Engineering and Industrial Automation Consultant Company.

These tickets were also allegedly sold to the public at higher prices.

Police said further investigation is ongoing to identify others involved in the racket and examine the wider network behind illegal ticket sales. The crackdown comes amid increased monitoring of ticket black marketing during high-profile IPL matches in Bengaluru.
