Bengaluru Fridge Murder Case: Minister G. Parameshwara Promises Culprits Will Be Caught Soon

In a dreadful incident that has rattled Bengaluru, the dismembered body of 29-year-old Mahalakshmi found in her own flat, leading to widespread shock and sorrow. With the remnants of her body discovered stored in over 50 pieces within a refrigerator at her Vyalikaval home, the horror was uncovered by her bereaved mother and sister. This gruesome act has prompted an outcry for swift justice, with authorities scrambling to piece together the events that led to Mahalakshmi's brutal murder.

Responding to the heinous crime, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara assured the public of rapid action to apprehend the culprits. "We have gathered some information, but it cannot be disclosed yet. We are working to nab those responsible as quickly as possible," he conveyed, highlighting the government's commitment to solving the case. The authorities have identified a suspect, believed to be from West Bengal, signaling the beginning of a relentless pursuit to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The Bengaluru Police, under the direction of Commissioner B. Dayananda, are intensively investigating the murder. Dayananda confirmed, "We are investigating all angles. Once the suspect is apprehended, more details will be provided," underscoring the complexity of the investigation. Despite the identification of the main suspect, the individual remains elusive, with several police teams deployed nationwide to secure an arrest. So far, one person has been brought in for questioning, yet no arrests have been officially made.

The tragic loss of Mahalakshmi has not only devastated her family but also reignited concerns over women's safety in Bengaluru. Her mother, Meena Rana, recounted the chilling discovery of her daughter's remains, expressing the profound shock and grief that has enveloped the family. The quest for justice is echoed by Mahalakshmi's elder sister, who is bewildered by the cruelty of the act. The family's anguish is palpable, with a desperate plea for accountability and justice.

This case has drawn inevitable parallels to the 2022 murder of Shraddha Walker in Delhi, another instance where a woman's life was horrifically ended by dismemberment. In light of these events, Parameshwara addressed concerns regarding the safety of women in the city, assuring that measures like the Nirbhaya programme are in effect. "We are careful and have taken precautions, but we must continue to put more effort into women's safety," he emphasized, showcasing a resolve to enhance protective measures for women.
