Bengaluru Flyer’s In-Flight Rant Sparks Buzz: Can’t You Hold It for 2 Hours?

Reddit continues to be a popular space for travellers venting about air travel woes-from disruptive co-passengers to delayed flights and poor service. In a recent viral post, a Bengaluru man shared his unpleasant flight experience, shedding light on what he called "chaotic" behaviour inside the cabin.

The Reddit user recounted his journey from Bengaluru to Kolkata, where he was seated beside a young couple travelling with a toddler. While a flight attendant initially gave the couple a proper safety briefing, the man noted that the parents appeared disengaged. Once the attendant walked away, the child was allowed to lie sprawled across the couple's laps. As the flight progressed, the toddler became increasingly restless-kicking the seat ahead and attempting to push his legs through the gap in the armrest. Intervention from the father only came when the child's feet started poking into the next row.

But things soon got messier. The man alleged that the parents had fed their child milk right before boarding, which led to the toddler vomiting shortly after takeoff. The child's mother reportedly left the cleaning to the flight attendants and carried the toddler to the lavatory. The user commended the cabin crew for handling the situation with professionalism, spraying powder to dry the area and disposing of the mess.

"Credit to the FAs for managing the situation efficiently," he wrote, adding that such a scene might have been avoided had the parents chosen a more flight-friendly snack, like the oranges they offered later.

Beyond the toddler trouble, the man's post also took aim at other passengers who kept getting up to chat or visit the restroom-even while the seatbelt sign was switched on. "People were walking the aisle non-stop. Just talking, meeting group members, ignoring basic flight instructions," he observed. "Unless there's a medical reason, can't you hold it in for two hours?"

His post sparked a lively discussion online, with reactions ranging from supportive to critical. Some agreed that a lack of civic sense and etiquette was all too common among passengers.

One user responded, "Yes, feeding toddlers during takeoff and landing helps with ear pressure. But walking around mid-flight to socialize? That's just inconsiderate."

Another commenter added, "I just returned from a flight. As soon as the wheels hit the ground, a guy tried to shove past me in the aisle-even touched me when I refused to move. What's the rush?"

Others defended the parents, pointing out that babies often need to be fed during takeoff to prevent ear discomfort. "This is a basic instruction. Surprised the crew didn't mention it," one user said.

Whether highlighting a gap in air travel etiquette or reflecting growing frustration with unruly flyers, the post has certainly struck a chord online-reviving debates on how to behave responsibly while flying.
