Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway Toll Collection To Begin Soon On Karnataka Stretch, NHAI Releases Rates
Motorists using the Karnataka stretch of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway will soon begin paying tolls, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has finalised rates and is preparing to initiate toll collection at four designated plazas.
The 71-kilometre stretch between Hedigenabele (near Hoskote) and Sundarapalya (near Kolar Gold Fields) has been open to traffic for over seven months, though toll charges were not being collected. That is set to change in the coming days, with technical systems and infrastructure nearing completion.

Toll Collection Highlights:
- Stretch covered: 71 km (Hedigenabele to Sundarapalya)

- Toll plazas: Hedigenabele, Agrahara, Krishnarajapura, Sundarapalya
- Two-wheelers banned: Entry strictly prohibited for safety

- Return trip: ₹275
- Reverse single trip: ₹190
- Monthly pass (50 trips): ₹6,105
- Reverse monthly pass: ₹6,260
- Light Commercial Vehicles / Mini-Buses
- Single trip (Hedigenabele → Sundarapalya): ₹295
- Return trip: ₹445
- Reverse single trip: ₹305
- Reverse return trip: ₹455
- Heavy Vehicles (Trucks and Buses)
- Single trip (Hedigenabele → Sundarapalya): ₹620
- Return trip: ₹930
- Reverse single trip: ₹635

- Enforcement and Safety Measures:
- The expressway supports speeds up to 120 km/h.
Two-wheelers are not permitted, but incomplete fencing has led to unauthorized motorcycle entry.
NHAI is seeking Home Guard deployment at sensitive locations to prevent violations until fencing is completed.
