Bengaluru Braces For More Summer Showers As IMD Forecasts Wetter Pre-Monsoon Season
As Bengaluru heads into peak summer, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts more frequent summer showers this year compared to previous ones.
Weather experts attribute this change to increased convectional rainfall, where warm, moist air rises, cools, and forms clouds, resulting in precipitation, according to Deccan Herald.

Unlike last year, when Bengaluru endured hotter and extended dry periods, Karnataka is now experiencing a marked rise in pre-monsoon rainfall.
"This phenomenon is bringing more summer rains to Bengaluru this year," N Puviarasan, Head of the Bengaluru Met Centre, told the newspaper.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds and lightning in Bengaluru from Tuesday to Friday, with daytime temperatures expected to range between 34°C and 23°C over the next two days.
Stay vigilant: IMD warns Bengaluru residents
Authorities have issued an advisory urging locals to remain cautious amid extreme weather. Residents are advised to keep up with weather updates, stay indoors during heavy downpours, secure windows and doors, and avoid unnecessary travel.
The IMD has also cautioned against seeking shelter under trees during thunderstorms, recommending safer locations instead. Tree uprooting during showers is a frequent issue in Bengaluru, often leading to fatal incidents.
Additionally, the IMD has warned that above-average temperatures in parts of north interior Karnataka could cause minor damage to banana and papaya plantations, with strong winds threatening horticulture and standing crops.
While wetter summer months may offer temporary relief from scorching temperatures, residents are urged to stay cautious as Bengaluru navigates an active pre-monsoon season.
