Bengaluru Blast: Explosion Rocks Near JP Nagar Udupi Upahar Restaurant, Two Injured

A powerful explosion near Main Udupi Upahar in JP Nagar, Bengaluru, has left two individuals seriously injured. The blast, which occurred around 10 a.m. on Monday, injured two young men, Samir and Mosin, both from Uttar Pradesh.

The explosion was so intense that it scattered household items across the vicinity, according to reports. While initial suspicions point to a gas cooker as the potential cause, investigators have discovered burnt wires at the scene, complicating the assessment. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Puttenahalli police station. Both the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and a Central Investigation Team have arrived to investigate, working in coordination with local police to determine the cause and assess the damage.

NIA officials are particularly concerned, noting that the explosion seems more severe than a standard gas cooker blast. The force of the explosion devastated the room, raising concerns, especially given the timing on the eve of Independence Day.

Local police and NIA officers are currently inspecting the area, assessing the condition of the injured, and investigating the involvement of the two youths in the incident. While the Puttenahalli police have completed their initial investigation and departed, the NIA continues its thorough examination.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda confirmed that the explosion was caused by a gas cooker, not a terrorist act. He explained that the incident involved a short circuit, which led to the blast. Two individuals were seriously injured in the explosion. Commissioner Dayananda added that further inspection of the site is ongoing.
