Bengaluru Bandh: How Sudden Declaration Of Holiday Created Inconvenience To Students

The sudden declaration of a holiday in some schools in Bengaluru created a lot of inconvenience for students in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

According to a report in Oneindia Kannada, many parents had missed the late-night message sent by the private school management announcing a holiday on Monday.

Bengaluru Bandh: How Sudden Declaration Of Holiday Created Inconvenience To Students?

They were shocked and surprised when they came to schools to drop their kids to know that the schools had declared a holiday today.

There are over 6,000 schools in Bengaluru. Considering that many parents send their children to schools from a far distance, the schools took a sudden the call to declare a holiday and the messages were delivered to the parents' cellphones last night.

On the other hand, college students from remote places had also face difficulties in reaching their institutions. As the private buses are off the roads, they depend on fully-crowded government buses.

Traffic Advisory

The Bengaluru traffic police have issued a traffic advisory in response to the call for a 'Bengaluru Bandh' by the Karnataka State Private Vehicles Owner Association.

The police urged the public to avoid travelling on KG Road, Sheshadri Road, GT Road, and the roads surrounding Freedom Park and Majestic Bus Stand. Instead, commuters are encouraged to consider the following alternative routes:

For vehicles heading from RR Junction to Khodays Circle: Divert towards Krishna Flour Mill and continue towards Malleshwaram.

For vehicles travelling from Goodshed Road: Proceed towards G T Road via Sangolli Rayanna Circle, leading to Okalipuram, and further towards Sujatha Theatre.

For vehicles approaching from Ananda Rao Circle: Navigate towards the Old JDS Office Road and reach Sheshadripuram Road. For vehicles arriving from Mysuru Bank Circle: Head towards Palace Road, which leads to the Maharani Junction underpass, and then proceed towards Basaveshwara Circle. These alternative routes should help commuters navigate the city more smoothly during the specified period.

The Federation of the Karnataka State Private Transport Association has called for a bandh seeking a ban on bike taxis, and urging the government to extend the Shakti scheme -- that offers free bus rides to women on state-run transport buses -- to private buses as well, among other demands.
