ATM attack case undetected: Bengaluru police tell court

After almost 3 years now, the central division police have filed a 'C' report in the case and have told the court that the case remains undetected.

Almost three years after the chilling case of a bank employee being hacked in an ATM kiosk in Bengaluru, the city police have filed a C report in the case. There is no trace of the assailant even after almost 3 years.

On November 19, 2013, Jyothi Uday, a bank official was hacked by an unidentified man inside an ATM kiosk in NR Square of Bengaluru. The entire act was caught on CCTV installed in the kiosk. The incident had led to reforms in ATM safety by banks across the city with the then police commissioner giving strict guidelines.

Special police teams were formed to trace the assailant who had vanished after the incident. Teams went to neighbouring states with nothing more than his captured images for reference. After almost 3 years now, the central division police have filed a C report in the case and have told the court that the case remains undetected.

Option of investigating the case will remain open if new clues or leads emerge but for now the case will go to cold storage with this C report. The survivor of this gory attack, Jyothi Uday, underwent multiple surgeries at BGS Hospital in Bengaluru.
