Arvind Reddy Arrested at Bengaluru Airport Over Assault Allegations by Kannada Actress

Arvind Reddy, founder of the AVR Group, has been arrested in connection with a case involving the alleged harassment and assault of a Kannada film actress. The arrest was carried out by ACP Chandan and his team, who detained Reddy while he was entering Bengaluru from Sri Lanka. An FIR had been registered against him on the 17th of last month.

How It Began: Friendship That Took a Dark Turn

According to the complaint, the actress-who has acted in over nine Kannada films-first met Arvind Reddy in 2021. Their association deepened in 2022 when Arvind invited her to the inauguration of the Lars Cricket Cup in Sri Lanka, which she attended. From there, the two reportedly developed a close relationship, with Arvind initially behaving affectionately and supportively.

However, in August 2022, Arvind suddenly cut off contact without explanation, leaving the actress confused.

Later, Arvind reconnected with the actress, but his behaviour allegedly changed drastically. She claims she discovered his mental health issues and alcohol addiction during this period.

In 2024, Arvind allegedly called her and said, "I will marry you." Frightened by his behaviour, the actress reportedly attempted suicide by swallowing 100 pills. As per the complaint, Arvind took her to the hospital for treatment but allegedly did not allow her to inform her family.

Physical Assault Allegations

When the actress told Arvind she wanted to return his phone and end the relationship, he allegedly assaulted her. The complaint states that he tore her clothes and left her half-naked. Distressed, the actress finally informed her mother.

After this, Arvind allegedly threatened her, claiming she had made him "spend a lot of money" and that she owed him crores of rupees. The complaint also accuses him of making false allegations against her and her friends.

Arvind Reddy is a real estate businessman, captain of the Maharaja Bellary Tuskers cricket team, and also a film producer. He is known for organising several celebrity cricket tournaments featuring Kannada film actors and actresses.

Police have taken Arvind Reddy into custody and are conducting a detailed investigation into the allegations, which include harassment, assault, and criminal intimidation. The actress has also sought action against individuals whom Arvind allegedly attempted to falsely implicate.
