After Ramanagara, Bengaluru Rural May Become ‘Bengaluru North’: Cabinet Likely to Clear Proposal

The Karnataka government is set to implement a new plan that could boost real estate alongside Bengaluru's brand value. The state has already renamed Ramanagara district as Bengaluru South. Now, Bengaluru Rural district is also in line for a change. However, this development poses a setback for Tumakuru, which had hoped to benefit from Bengaluru's brand value.

After renaming Ramanagara as Bengaluru South, the government plans to rename Bengaluru Rural as Bengaluru North. This move has sparked significant interest in real estate within these regions. Property prices, including land and homes, have surged dramatically. The cabinet meeting today might approve this renaming proposal.

Bengaluru's Brand Value and Real Estate

Ramanagara district's renaming has already enhanced its real estate appeal. The area now experiences a surge in property values. The government's next step involves renaming Bengaluru Rural as Bengaluru North, further boosting real estate prospects in the region.

Key areas like Doddaballapur, Devanahalli, and Hoskote in Bengaluru Rural are witnessing substantial real estate growth. Land prices here have skyrocketed due to the presence of Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli. Infrastructure development around the airport has naturally followed.

Tumakuru's Setback

Tumakuru had aspired to be renamed as Bengaluru North after Ramanagara became Bengaluru South. State Home Minister G. Parameshwara had advocated for this change. Unfortunately, Tumakuru faces disappointment as the proposal did not materialise.

There were earlier proposals for a second international airport and metro expansion in Tumakuru, but neither came to fruition. Now, even the hope of being renamed as part of Bengaluru North has been dashed.

The government's focus on enhancing Bengaluru's brand value through strategic renaming aims to attract more investment and development in these areas. However, Tumakuru remains on the sidelines despite its aspirations.
