A Game Changer For Bengaluru: Sarjapur To Hebbal Namma Metro Update
Namma Metro is preparing to enhance travel experiences and improve connectivity for commuters by expanding its lines. The new Namma metro route connecting Sarjapur to Hebbal, will offer a convenient travel option with the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) shaping our metro connectivity. With an estimated cost of Rs 16,543 crores, this 37 km route was previously mentioned in the Comprehensive Mobility Plan-2020. Expected to aid tech zones and commuters, it promises smoother journeys.
The elevated route, as per the CMP, spans from IT corridor near Sarjapur to Jakkasandra, followed by a surface corridor change in Koramangala, leading through underground in the city. The extension of the Ballari Road route from Gangenahalli to Hebbal is also in progress, providing a direct link to Kempegowda International Airport.

The Sarjapur-Hebbal route, already part of the metro's operational network, connects with the Blue and Pink lines, facilitating ease of travel. It's anticipated to significantly reduce traffic congestion in major parts of Bengaluru. The upgradation of the Ballari Road, including projects like Bangalore Airport High-Speed Rail and the Steel Bridge scheme, aligns with these developments.
While previous projects targeted specific areas, the Sarjapur-Hebbal route aims to alleviate congestion on the entire Sarjapur Circle to Hebbal stretch, covering areas such as Basaveshwara Circle, Bangalore Golf Course, Palace Grounds, Mehkri Circle, Veterinary College, Ganganagar, and Hebbal.
