60-Year-Old Pilot Booked for Alleged Rape of 26-Year-Old Crew Member at Bengaluru Hotel

A private aviation firm's 60 year old pilot has been accused of raping a 26 year old cabin crew member during a stay at a luxury hotel in Bengaluru, according to police officials. The incident reportedly occurred during a layover following a chartered flight on November 18.

How the Incident Unfolded

According to the complaint, the accused pilot, identified as Rohit Saran, reached the hotel along with another pilot and the survivor after flying in from Begumpet in Hyderabad and Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh.

All three were scheduled to return to Puttaparthi the next day and had checked into the hotel to rest.

The survivor told the police that Rohit led her near his room under the pretext of stepping out for a smoke. She alleged that he then pulled her inside the room and raped her.

Complaint Filed After Returning to Hyderabad

After returning to Begumpet on November 20, the survivor immediately informed the aviation company's management about the incident. She then filed a zero FIR at Begumpet police station, which allowed the case to be registered regardless of jurisdiction.

Case Transferred to Bengaluru Police

Police said an FIR has been filed under section 63 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to the offence of rape. The case has been transferred to Halasuru Police Station in Bengaluru City, where further investigation is now underway.
