52-Year-Old Arrested For Sexually Harassing Co-Passenger On Frankfurt-Bengaluru Lufthansa Flight

A 52-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a female passenger on a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Bengaluru. Upon the plane's arrival at Bengaluru International Airport, the offender was transported to the police station and detained in custody.

The alleged incident occurred on November 6 while the 32-year-old woman, originally from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, was asleep. As she slept, the man seated beside her purportedly made unwelcome physical contact and engaged in inappropriate behavior. Later, the woman sought the assistance of a flight attendant and had her seating arrangement changed, as the man persisted in his harassing conduct throughout the journey.

According to an official statement on Wednesday, the Karnataka police have taken a 52-year-old man into custody under suspicion of sexually harassing a female fellow passenger during the flight. The woman was relocated to a different seat mid-flight. She later reported, "I passed out midway through the trip. After a while, I discovered that the alleged co-passenger had touched my intimate areas with his hand. I had pushed away his hand and went back to sleep." She further detailed, "After around fifteen minutes, I woke up again and saw that the accused had touched my private area between my legs once more. I then removed his hand, alerted the airline staff, and informed them of the incident."

Upon landing at Bengaluru International Airport, the accused individual was taken into police custody following the woman's formal complaint made on Tuesday. A complaint has been filed under IPC Section 354 A.
