5 Disturbing Revelations In Bengaluru CEO Suchana Seth's Son Murder Investigation

Suchana Seth, the CEO of the Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence start-up Mindful AI Lab, accused of killing her four-year-old son, was made to confront her estranged husband, PR Venkat Raman, by the Goa Police on Saturday. The 15-minute encounter at the Calangute police station, amidst their ongoing divorce, devolved into a blame game fueled by grief and fury.

5 Disturbing Revelations In Bengaluru CEO Suchana Seths Son Murder Investigation

Here are the top updates:

  • According to the police, the confrontation escalated into arguments, with Venkat Raman expressing his anger and asking why she had harmed their child. Seth maintained her innocence, claiming she had not committed the crime. The Indian Express quoted a police officer stating that a brief verbal exchange occurred, where both parties blamed each other. During the confrontation, Venkat inquired about the murder, and Seth responded that she had no knowledge of the death. This aligns with the statements she provided to the Goa Police, asserting that she fell asleep when her son was alive in their Goa service apartment and discovered him dead upon waking up.
  • In his statement, Raman disclosed that Suchana consistently perceived him as a violent person who might separate their son from him. The divorce proceedings were initiated by Suchana in 2023, with the court initially permitting Raman to engage with his son through video calls. However, over time, Seth progressively limited their interactions, and on December 10, 2023, Raman had his final meeting with his son. On January 7, Raman arrived at the designated location for picking up their son, only to find that she had already departed for Goa. Despite sending messages and emails, Raman received no response, as stated by his lawyer. Later that day, he left for Jakarta. "Their divorce proceedings commenced in 2023, and initially, the court allowed Raman to communicate with his son through video calls within the courtroom. On November 20, 2023, the court granted Raman the opportunity to meet his son once a week, specifically on Sundays. She interpreted this as a decision favoring Raman," explained Raman's lawyer.
  • Following Venkat Raman's deposition before the Goa Police, where he claimed the last meeting with his son occurred on December 10, tensions flared during the confrontation. Venkat Raman accused Seth of violating court orders by denying him access to their child for the past five Sundays. Despite the lawyer Azhar Meer stating that Venkat Raman was "numb" with grief over losing his son, the concern was raised for the justice the child would receive. Meer emphasized the irreversible loss and suggested that the child's well-being should be prioritized over legal outcomes. The lawyers highlighted that only Suchana Seth could provide insight into the motive behind the killing, speculating that it might be related to preventing the child from having a connection with his father. The ongoing custody case in the Bengaluru family court had allowed initial communication and visitation rights, eventually progressing to home visits.
  • A note hastily written by Seth on a tissue using eyeliner, was found in the suitcase containing her son's body, provides insight into her mental state and a motive for the tragic incident. The note highlighted the overwhelming pressure from both the court and her estranged husband to relinquish custody of her son, conveying a sense of unbearable distress. Seth accused her ex-husband of violence and asserted his negative influence on their son.
  • Police said Suchana had booked one-way air tickets from Bengaluru to Goa as the plan was possibly to return by road after the crime.

The tragic incident involved Seth allegedly smothering her son in a Goa service apartment, attempting to transport the body to Bengaluru before being arrested midway in Chitradurga, Karnataka, on January 8.
