In a surprising turn of events, a 32-year-old woman who accused her landlord's son of physical assault is now at the center of complaints from neighbors and a long-standing feud with the landlord's family.

Reports suggest that the landlord had asked the woman, identified as Sangeetha from West Bengal, to vacate the rented apartment in Sanjay Nagar, Bengaluru, three months ago following complaints from neighbors.

Residents alleged that Sangeetha often hosted late-night parties, created disturbances with loud noises, and used abusive language. Neighbors had confronted her multiple times, complaining that her behavior was disrupting their lives. The landlord, under pressure from other residents, had reportedly requested her to leave the premises, but Sangeetha continued to stay, asserting that she was paying rent.

The tension between Sangeetha and the landlord's family reportedly began months earlier over a parking dispute near Planetvista Apartment. According to reports, three men associated with Sangeetha had parked their car near the apartment, and the landlord's son allegedly refused to open the gate, sparking a heated argument. The feud escalated over time, culminating in the landlord's demand for Sangeetha to vacate the apartment. Despite this, Sangeetha continued to stay, insisting she was paying rent.

Allegations of Assault

On December 3, Sangeetha accused her landlord's son, Manjunath Gowda, of verbally abusing and physically assaulting woman under the influence of alcohol when she stepped out to collect a parcel. The incident occurred around 10.30 pm on December 3 went to the gate to collect a parcel.

According to her complaint, Gowda, allegedly intoxicated, slapped, choked, and pinned her to the wall, leaving her struggling to breathe. She also claimed that Gowda bit her finger and attempted to pull her into his house before she managed to escape.

Sangeetha further alleged that Gowda had a history of harassment, including peeping into her window and making advances. On the morning of the incident, she claimed that Gowda attempted to enter her apartment.

Social Media Outcry

Taking to social media, Sangeetha accused the police of inaction, citing Gowda's alleged influence. In a tweet, she wrote: "My drunk landlord tried to choke me on Dec 3 at 10:30 PM. He's known for abusing women and has an ongoing attempt-to-murder case. Police haven't acted due to his 'influence.' He threatened to kill me again yesterday."

Contrasting Narratives

In a counter-complaint, Kempegowda, the father of the accused, claimed that the woman initially attacked his son, striking him on the head, which led to a heated argument. He further alleged that the woman frequently hosted late-night parties with male friends, causing repeated complaints from neighbors. Despite these complaints, she did not cease her behavior, prompting him to ask her to vacate the house earlier.

While Sangeetha's allegations have raised concerns, neighbors and owner have painted a different picture. They claim her behavior caused repeated disturbances and pushed the landlord to demand her eviction.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Saidulu Adavath, confirmed that a case has been filed against the accused, Manjunath Gowda, for allegedly assaulting the woman. Gowda has been arrested, and during interrogation, he admitted to assaulting the woman after she pushed him, causing him to fall. The investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Bengaluru police are currently investigating the case to uncover the truth behind the allegations and counterclaims.
