23-Year-Old College Student Neha Killed On BVB Campus In Hubballi, Fayaz Arrested

The daughter of a Congress Corporator was stabbed to death by her former classmate inside her college campus in Hubballi, Karnataka. The accused, Fayaz Khondunaik (23), has been arrested and has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

According to reports, the Neha, 23 years old and the daughter of Congress Corporator Niranjan Hiremath, was pursuing her first year of Masters of Computer Applications (MCA) at BVB College (KLE Technological University). The harrowing incident, captured on CCTV cameras installed on the campus, shows the accused Fayaz stabbing Neha repeatedly with a knife before fleeing.

Hubballi College Student Murdered

The incident occurred at 4:30 pm as she was returning after completing her first semester MCA exams.

Fayaz hails from Savadatti taluk in Belagavi district. According to reports, both Fayaz and Neha were classmates and friends during their BCA studies. However, their friendship faced opposition from the college management and Neha's parents. Later, Neha began distancing herself from Fayaz. Police suspect that the stabbing incident stemmed from this strained relationship. Neha's parents had even prohibited her from attending college due to this issue.

On the day of the incident, Neha had come to college to take her first-semester MCA exams. Fayaz confronted her on campus, leading to a physical altercation where he punched her and then stabbed her multiple times before fleeing. However, some students managed to overpower him and handed him over to the Vidyanagar police, albeit after he was roughed up by the students.

Despite efforts by college authorities and students to rush Neha to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Reports suggest that Fayaz, a resident of Belagavi district, had been stalking Neha after she reportedly rejected his advances.

The police, with the assistance of Vidyanagar police in Hubballi, arrested Fayaz. Hubballi-Dharwad Commissioner of Police Renuka Sukumar stated, "At around 4.45-5 pm, the incident happened where an ex-classmate of the girl Neha, studying MCA at BVB College, assaulted her with a knife. He studied BCA there. He stabbed her 6-7 times."

Geetha, Neha's mother, expressed her shock, saying, "I came to pick her up and spoke to her once on the phone. Within five minutes of our conversation, chaos erupted, and someone mentioned she had been stabbed. I haven't seen her face yet. I still believe my daughter is alive. I can't believe she is gone."

A murder case has been filed against Fayaz, and investigations are ongoing. Student group ABVP's workers and other groups staged protests, demanding justice for Neha and strict punishment for the accused.

Bandh declared for three days

BJP and Hindu organisations have declared a three-day city bandh, effective from today in Munavalli Village in Savadatti taluk of Belgaum district. Activists from these groups are shutting down shops in the area, and there is a circulation of posters with the message "Love Jihad Kill" on social media.
