44 Bengaluru Schools Receive Bomb Threat, CCTV Footage Accessed To Identify Suspects

Over 44 prominent schools have received bomb threats via email, prompting police to deploy bomb squads to the affected institutions. The threats have been received by schools in Basaveshwaranagara and Yelahanka Police Division.

The threat surfaced when school staff accessed their emails and encountered the concerning message. Meanwhile, the city police and bomb squads swiftly initiated thorough inspections of the school premises.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda confirmed the deployment of bomb detection units to conduct extensive checks across the school areas.

"Police teams, alongside bomb detection and disposal units, have been mobilized to the respective locations," stated the police commissioner. The police will thoroughly investigate the schools that received these threats, emphasizing that there is no cause for alarm.

    In response to the threat, one of the affected schools promptly notified parents about the security risk and arranged for the safe return of their children home. Anxious parents hurried to the schools, anxiously waiting outside, eager to ensure the safe retrieval of their children. Neev School in Sadashivanagar has announced holiday.

    Meanwhile, Police are currently investigating the source of the bomb threats. They are also reviewing CCTV footage from the schools in an attempt to identify the suspects. The authorities have urged anyone with information about the bomb threats to come forward.

    Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, after catching wind of the media reports, made a visit to New Academy School in Sadashivnagar to gather information. Addressing reporters, Shivakumar reassured the public, stating that he's been briefed by the city police commissioner and emphasized there's no cause for concern.

    This is not the first time that schools in Bengaluru have been targeted with bomb threats. Last year, on the same day, 30 schools received similar threats via email. However, no arrests have been made in connection with these threats.
