100 New non-AC 'Ashwamedha Classic' Buses On Bengaluru-Mysuru Route

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated 100 new "Ashwamedha" buses operated by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), specifically assigned for the Bengaluru to Mysuru route. The inauguration ceremony took place in front of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, with the presence of Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy and other officials.

The official Twitter handle of the Chief Minister posted, "The Chief Minister @siddaramaiah inaugurated 100 New Design Karnataka Transport Buses (Ashwamedha - Point to Point Express) at a function organized by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation in front of the Vidhana Soudha today."

These "Ashwamedha" buses introduce a point-to-point express bus service connecting Bengaluru and Mysuru. Additionally, some of these buses will operate on routes from Hunsur to Bengaluru and K.R. Nagar to Bengaluru, according to a report. Plans are underway to introduce 30 more electric buses on the Mysuru to Bengaluru route, supplementing the existing 14 buses, as per Mysuru KSRTC Divisional Controller Srinivas.

The routes for the new electric buses, including services from Mysuru to Hunsur and Mysuru to H. D. Kote, will be mapped out soon, added Srinivas.

The new "Ashwamedha" buses stand at a height of 3.42 meters and feature a "bucket type" design with a total of 52 seats. They are designed under the theme "Reconceptualising Travel," and the fare for the service remains unchanged, emphasizing affordability for frequent commuters between the two cities.

These buses also boast spacious interiors, tinted glasses, LED lights, LED route display, self-closing doors, and an emergency door-opening button, providing enhanced comfort and safety for passengers.
