Nitin Gadkari Advocates For AI Integration In Project Reports For Enhanced Infrastructure Development

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has emphasised the importance of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) for sectors like highway construction, mining, and agriculture. Speaking at an event, Gadkari highlighted that innovation and technology, including AI, are crucial for India's development.

Gadkari pointed out that the quality of DPRs created by consultancy firms in India is often subpar. He believes AI can significantly improve this process across various fields. A DPR is vital as it encompasses surveys, investigations, and designs necessary for project execution.

AI's Role in Enhancing Project Quality

The minister also mentioned that AI could be instrumental in analysing road accident data and identifying black spots. This application could lead to safer roads by addressing problematic areas more effectively. Gadkari stressed that while AI offers qualitative improvements, there is potential for misuse.

Recently, Gadkari stated that the government plans to penalise consultants who fail to follow proper procedures when creating DPRs for highways and tunnels. This move aims to ensure higher standards in project planning and execution.
