IIT Madras Launches 10 Online AI Courses for Schoolchildren: How To Register, Courses Offered, Other Deets
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is expanding its School Connect programme by offering 10 online certificate courses for students in classes X, XI, and XII. Schools across India are invited to collaborate with the institute to allow their students to enrol in these courses.
Prof V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, emphasised the importance of early exposure to new fields. "At IIT Madras, we believe that early exposure to emerging fields can spark curiosity and shape future innovators. By empowering students at a formative stage, we are investing in a future-ready nation," a statement from the IIT-M quoted him as saying.

School Connect Program Overview
The School Connect Program is a key outreach initiative by the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE) at IIT Madras. It aims to bridge the gap between school and higher education. This initiative empowers students, particularly those in Classes 10, 11, and 12, to explore new fields and make informed decisions about their academic and career paths.
Registration for the August 2025 batch has commenced. Schools can register their students on code.iitm.ac.in/schoolconnect/ until July 25. The courses will run for eight weeks, providing hands-on experience through assignments and optional projects.
Diverse Course Offerings
The subjects available include Introduction to Data Science and AI, Introduction to Electronic Systems, Introduction to Architecture and Design, Fun with Math and Computing, Math Unplugged: Games and Puzzles, Introduction to Ecology, Introduction to Engineering Biological Systems, Introduction to Law, The Fundamentals of Aerospace, and Humanities Unplugged.
This academic year offers three batches in August, October, and January. This schedule allows schools and students the opportunity to explore up to three courses annually.
