Free AI Training for 10 Lakh Indians: Ashwini Vaishnaw’s Big Digital India Push
Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has declared that ten lakh citizens will receive free Artificial Intelligence training. Priority will be given to Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs). This announcement was made during the 'CSC Diwas’ event in New Delhi, which celebrated a decade of Digital India. The event highlighted the transformative impact of digital empowerment across the nation.
Vaishnaw praised the efforts of Common Service Centres (CSC) workers, noting that VLEs have played a crucial role in extending Digital India's benefits to every citizen. He emphasised that CSCs have successfully reached nearly 90% of villages nationwide. This achievement underscores the significant progress made in digital inclusion.

Digital Payment Milestones
The Minister highlighted a notable milestone in digital payments, stating that UPI transactions have surpassed those of Visa. This achievement demonstrates how even small vendors, like tea sellers and vegetable vendors, are embracing digital payment methods in India. Such advancements showcase India's growing digital economy and its impact on everyday life.
Mr. Vaishnaw also encouraged all VLEs to begin offering IRCTC services to citizens. By doing so, they can further enhance the accessibility and convenience of railway services for people across the country. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of expanding digital services to rural areas.
Celebrating Digital Empowerment
The 'CSC Diwas’ event marked ten years of Digital India, celebrating its achievements and ongoing efforts to empower citizens through technology. The focus on AI training for a large number of individuals reflects the government's commitment to equipping citizens with essential skills for the future.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure that technological advancements reach all corners of India, fostering growth and development at every level. By prioritising VLEs for AI training, the government aims to strengthen grassroots entrepreneurship and innovation.
The celebration of Digital India's decade-long journey serves as a reminder of how far the nation has come in terms of digital transformation. It also highlights the potential for continued progress as more citizens gain access to cutting-edge technologies and opportunities.
