When Narendra Modi urged Shahrukh, Aamir, Sachin to encourage voters
Ahmedabad, Sept 20: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who recently has been named as the PM candidate of BJP, seems to have taken the task of spreading awareness among young voters regarding their duties during election.
The CM urged celebrities, including film stars, cricketers, social activists, spiritual leaders of the country to encourage the voters to register their names with the election commission. The BJP PM candidate aimed to create awareness among voters of the age between 18 to 24.
Turning up to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Modi on Friday, Sept 20 sent tweets addressing many celebrities such as -- Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshat Kumar, Sachin Tendulkar, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Shashi Tharoor, Kiran Bedia, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and many others.
Now, it will be interesting to see how many celebrities would respond to Modi's request. A tweet from Modi reads, Studies point to several 'eligible' voters who are yet unregistered. Are you one of them? Now is the time to get registered ASAP!"
"I request prominent voices on social media to promote voter registration among youngsters & strengthen our democracy," he added.
