AAP accuses Gujarat police, IB of harassing its members

a
Ahmedabad, Jan 10: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday said that Gujarat Police and the state Intelligence Bureau officials were harassing its members and gathering intelligence on them.

"The sleuths of state IB and Gujarat police are harassing our members by asking them about unnecessary details. They are misusing the state machinery to harass and threaten AAP leaders and members," Gujarat AAP convener Sukhdev Patel said.

Former BJP MLA Kalsaria, who joined the party recently, said the screening committee would finalise the AAP's candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.

"The selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections has begun. It will be finalised in the first week of February," he said. The party claims to have 1.25 lakh members in Gujarat.

Patel took a swipe at the Narendra Modi government on the occasion by stating that as per the official statistic, enrolment in primary schools in Gujarat had fallen between 1999-2000 and 2010-11.

The party has planned a "broom yatra" from January 26 to expose state government's "corrupt practises".
