Sexual assault: Asaram Bapu creates ruckus in jail for Gangajal

, Sept 3: Hours before his hearing in a court in Jodhpur, Rajasthan,

created ruckus in jail for Gangajal or holy Ganga water. The self-styled godman, who has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault case, reportedly claimed that he would not accept water without a drop from his bottle carrying gangajal.

Later the 72-year-old spiritual guru was taken to court which adjourned the hearing on his bail plea till Wednesday, Sept 4. The septuagenarian, who was arrested from his ashram in Infore, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday midnight, has been sent to judicial custody till Sept 16.

The guru, who refused to accept allegations against him, accepted that he had spent one and half hour with the complainant.

Asaram recently cleared a potency test conducted on him by a team of three doctors, who established that he was not impotent as opposed to his claims. The test conducted revealed that he was indeed potent and capable of committing rape.

The Supreme Court, meanwhile, slammed that state government for unnecessarily providing heavy security to Asaram. Criticising the government, the apex court said, "We are seeing on TV hordes of security around one accused. Everybody says these are aberrations but they have become the rule."

The court was hearing a PIL seeking withdrawal of security cover to undeserving people who use it a status symbol.
