Govt enhances ex-gratia to kin of protester of Ramban firing

Srinagar, July 31: Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday enhanced the ex-gratia relief to Rs five lakh to the family of the man, who succumbed to injuries sustained during stone-pelting against Ramban firing incident.

"The cabinet which met here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah sanctioned Rs 5 lakh as extra ordinary ex-gratia relief in favour of the next of kin of Ravi Kant (Sharma) who died during the recent disturbances," an official spokesman said.

Omar yesterday had announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs two lakh to the family of the deceased. Sharma had sustained critical injuries when he was hit by a stone on his head on July 19 during protests against the killing of four persons in security forces firing at Gool in Ramban district on July 18.
