Sanjay Dutt's special day out: Pune's jail to hospital

Pune, July 21: Maintaining a tight vigil around him, Yerwada jail authorities took Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt to a hospital in Pune, Maharashtra on Saturday, July 20. It was Dutt's first day out in past two months.

The actor was taken to Sassoon Hospital where he met a team of four doctors. According to sources, Dutt underwent a full general medical check-up in the hospital.

Media reports said that Dutt has been facing health issues in the Yerwada Jail. However, neither jail authorities nor hospital officials revealed any information regarding Dutt's health and treatment.

The medical check-up of the actor lasted for at least three hours. Soon after his treatment in the hospital, Dutt was taken back to the prison amid tight security.

Earlier Yerwada Jail authorities had moved the TADA court against allowing home food to the actor citing the prison manual which does not provide for extension of such a facility.

Dutt was allowed to have home food and medicines by the TADA court when he surrendered on May 16 to serve his remaining 42 months sentence following his conviction in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

The 53-year-old actor was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case for possessing illegal weapons. Of the total term of five years, Dutt has already served 18 months in jail two decades ago and the Supreme Court, in its order of March 21, asked him to serve another 42 months.
