Rajnath seeks to clear his remarks about English
New Delhi, July 21: BJP President Rajnath Singh on Saturday, July 20 sought to clear the air on the recent controversy sparked by his remarks against the English language and said he has been quoted out of context.
Singh, who is on a five-day visit to the US, said on micro-blogging site Twitter "Reached New York today. Came to know about the controversy over my speech on English language. I have been quoted out of context."

"I am not against learning or expressing in English language. Watch my speech before you draw any conclusion," he added.
The BJP President posted a link to a YouTube clip of his speech at a party programme held on July 18 here. Singh was quoted as saying that English language has caused a great loss to the country.
"We are losing our language, our culture as there are hardly any people who speak Sanskrit now," he had reportedly said. This had led to jibes from Congress.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari had said, "I sometimes feel like laughing at our friends... Is this medievalism or hypocrisy?" he said.
