A number of co-workers of Isaac Schuler, a sales associate, complained that the latter was an insignificant employee who could be fired any day and did not deserve the best confection.

A senior employee said he didn't even know Schuler's name till the later picked up the Boston cream donut. He said Schuler never deserved a chance to take the prized crime. The best donuts were meant for the managers and performers, it was said.

Operations director Nathan Brunner said Schuler had made a "serious mistake" and would learn a lesson.
